GAP institute appreciates Minister’s decision to make TC "Kosova e Re" contract public

19/01/2018

GAP Institute has appreciated the transparent approach of the Minister of Economic Development, Valdrin Lluka, who unlike his predecessors since 2011, Besim Beqaj (PDK), Fadil Ismajli (AKR) and Blerand Stavileci (PDK), has chosen to respect the Law on Access to Public Documents and make one of the largest contracts public - the contract for the construction of the new power plant "Kosova e Re".

We hope that other public institutions will follow the same example and will respect the Law on Access to Public Documents by publishing major contracts such as: the contract for the construction of the highway "Ibrahim Rugova", the contract for the construction of the highway "Arbër Xhaferi", the homologation agreement for vehicles and other documents of public interest.

For all these documents, based on the Judgment of the Basic Court of Pristina dated 17 December 2017, which decides that the documents of general interest cannot be kept confidential, GAP Institute has once again sent a request to the Ministry of Infrastructure to have access to the abovementioned documents.

GAP Institute will analyze the contract published today and in the upcoming weeks will comment on its content and its expected impact. The contract was between the Government of Kosovo and the company "Contour Global".
