After recommendations provided from the Kosovo Accreditation Agency to the Ministry of Education for accreditation or non-accreditation of the programs within the University of Prishtina and Holders of the Private Higher Education (HPHE), the Government gave its last word on accreditation or non-accreditation of these programs. On its 134th meeting, held on July 14th, through the decision 04/134, the Government accredited the majority of study programs in the University of Prishtina. Programs that were not accredited in the UP are: Master Studies in the field 'The History of Medieval Times in Balkan”, MA studies for physiotherapy, MA for Traffic and Transport, MSc studies for Agro-economy and those on Plan Protection, bachelor and master studies in 'General and Comparative Literature”, master studies for German and Turkish Language, and master studies for Wood Industry. Unlike these all remaining program, respectively 113 of them were accredited; however 8 programs were conditionally accredited for one year.
Within the University of Prishtina, 15 faculties were subject to the accreditation process, meanwhile 2 remaining faculties, the Faculty of Mines and Metallurgy and Faculty of Electrical Engineering, are in the process of accreditation. Accreditation process lasts 3 years, unless it is specified otherwise.
Meanwhile, with the decision 05/134, the Kosovo Government accredited 18 out of 21 HPHE that were subject of the accreditation process this year. From the total, 10 of them were accredited as collages, 6 as high schools and 2 as institutes. In the previous year, the Government accredited 12 HPHEs. However, in this year again none of them can hold the university name, and therefore cannot provide academic titles for treacheries or offer doctorial studies.
