The Advisory Board for Environmental Protection is completed and the Council for Spatial Planning is appointed

The CV`s of these applicants are sent to the Assembly for review and final approval.

The Kosovo Government, on its 124th meeting, based on the decision 8/124 for the members of the Advisory Board for Environmental Protection, recommended the following candidates to the Kosovo Assembly: Behxhet Mustafa, Sylejman Berisha, Kemail Bislimi, Nysrete Doda – Gashi, Tush Markaj dhe Luan Shllaku. Based on the article 62 of the Law on Environmental Protection, the Kosovo Assembly appoints the Advisory Board for Environmental Protection, which will advise the Assembly and the Government with regards to environment protection issues. The board must be consisted of seven members, which are appointed by the Assembly. The Board Members are chosen amongst distinguished experts and scientists in the field of environmental protection and they may not be employed in the respective Ministry. The board is independent from any other authority. The duties of the board are to provide ideas and suggestions for the Assembly and the Government, as well as to inform the public on issues such as:

 

(a) the environmental situation and trends within the field of environmental protection;

(b) the strategy and policy for environmental protection and their coordination with international trends;

(c) the harmonization between economic development and environmental protection;

(d) the laws which regulate environmental protection;

(e) theactivities of relevant ministries and municipalities in the field of environmental protection;

(f) public initiatives, and

(g) other functions determined by law

 

During the same meeting, the Kosovo Government appointed the members of the Council for Spatial Planning consisted of: Ruzhdi Pllana, Ylber Vokshi, Ilir Gjinolli, Laura Kusari-Limaj, Xhelal Lloncari, Dervish Qerreti dhe Adem Pajaziti. Based on article 7 of the Law on Spatial Planning, this council is founded with the objective of ensuring the required conditions for a sustainable and equal spatial development for Kosovo, to ensure professional and scientific support in drafting documents. The duties of this council are to provide thoughts, ideas, proposals and remarks for documents of spatial planning and other documents determined by this law, which are approved by the Government or the Kosovo Assembly. The Council Members may not be officials, managers, owners or employees of business entities which conduct professional work of spatial planning, such as architects.
