Government allocates funds for Debelde village, the League of Writers, and for digging a mass grave

11/06/2010

With three different decisions, in its 128th governmental meeting, the Kosovo Government allocated funds for 3 different projects. With the decision no. 11/128, Government decided to allocate € 530,000 for compensating damages caused from the un-usage of the land during the period 2001-2009 in the Debelde village, in the Municipality of Vitia. This decision was taken, after the release of Inter-ministerial Committee report for evaluation of damages done in the properties of the owners in this village. However, for the first phase it was decided to allocate only € 200,000, whereas the Municipality of Vitia should establish a commission that will repay the damages for every owner. Inter-ministerial Committee for evaluation of damages in this village was established from the Kosovo Government on October 23rd 2009. The problem in Debelde village, dates since 2001, when after a political agreement between Macedonia and ex-Yugoslav Republic that a part of Kosovo territory was given to Macedonia, which disabled the citizens of this border-village to work in their own land/properties. This contest ended on October 16th 2009 when governments of these two states, Kosovo and Macedonia, signed the agreement for border democracy, where was decided that some parts of the Debelde village will be transformed to the territory of Macedonia. As it was written in the GAP Monitor 9 and 10, this agreement was faced with big resisting opinions in Kosovo.

With the decision no 12/128, the Kosovo Government decided to approve the request of the League of Writers for allocating € 6,000 in order to finance International Poem Festival 'Poetin Drin”. This is the first festival of this type, which is foreseen to be held in Prizren during June 11-12th. These funds will be allocated from the reserve funds of the Government and will be transferred to the bank account of the Kosovo League of Writers.

Meanwhile, the third decision for allocating money is dedicated for digging a mass grave. In this meeting the Government of the Republic of Kosovo approved the request of the Department of Missing Persons and Forensic Medicine for allocating € 50 thousand, for digging in an identified location that is suspected to have a mass grave with 20 bodies.  These funds are expected to be transferred from the budget of the Inter-ministerial Committee for Missing persons to the budgetary code of the above mentioned department.
